Medipacs is developing the first non-mechanical infusion pump based on a new, expandable polymer. The Medipacs novel polymer technology enables drug infusion pumps are that are wearable, programmable and disposable to allow for greater accuracy, patient comfort and convenience at a lower cost.

The Medipacs device is smaller than a cell phone, with a hard plastic shell exterior. Inside the device is a reservoir for the drug, a microprocessor, a printed circuit board and the proprietary polymer, which acts as the motor to push the drug out of the reservoir as it precisely expands, gradually displacing the drug.
